I want to convince my parents to let my have a dog. I want to make a packet of information of dog breeds, dog nutrition, etc. What do you think I should include in this packet? What other topics? (Websites accepted)

Is your family dog experienced or will this be your first pet?

You can always check out the American Kennel Club’s website for starters. Also check out your local ASPCA’s website. If you parents do allow you to get a dog, this would be a great place to check for dogs in need of homes. A young adult dog might be a good start for your family, as they are already past the less than pleasant parts of puppyhood like housebreaking and chewing, are often already neutered, and will fight right into a new home.

You will also want to understand what puppy mills are, and what to look out for to make sure that you and your parents do NOT purchase an unhealthy puppy from an irresponsible breeder.

Royal Canin Canine Breed Nutrition for Pure Breed Dogs, 14 tailor-made nutritional solutions to meet the unique needs of purebred dogs, resulting in visible health benefits. The kibble for each formula is customized in shape, size, texture and density to accommodate each breed’s unique characteristics.

Check out this article on the actual costs of dog food> http://www.petcaretips.net/premiumfood.html
I actually save by feeding a premium kibble, so buying a cheaper food isn’t a savings at all..
I feed Canidae, and am amazed at the difference in my dogs. I have tried most of the quality kibbles over the past 38 years of dog breeding, but Canidae is the best one I have tried.(.I have heard of excess weight gain with Canidae, but not in my breed)….
There are other great kibbles out there, such as Innova, Wellness, Natural Balance, Solid Gold, Wysong, and others, but of those, Caniidae is the one that keeps the dental health of my dogs the best..Even my OLD dogs have sparkling white teeth, without a sign of tartar…
If you are not feeding a premium kibble, you are paying about 7 cents a pound for the poop (waste) I’ve got much better things to spend money on than that! lol

I know they are not the best foods out there, but if those were the only foods you had to choose from which one would you choose ?

If you look on the bag of both. You’ll see the first ingredient is corn. Alot of dogs are allergic to grains. I buy strictly organic for my dogs. They have no skin problems or allergies. But if that was the only 2 I had to choose from. I would go with the Pedigree.

To feed puppies a balanced diet, choose a high-quality dry puppy food from the veterinarian or from a pet supply store, and transition to a dry adult formula at around 1 year of age. Ensure a puppy is getting a well-rounded diet with health information from a veterinarian in this free video on pet care.

*Crickets Chirping*

Eww…no. But last night I had a dream and it had a dog in it. The dog that was in the movie In Her Shoes…yeah. Funny… I was petting it and thinking it wasn’t so bad, that maybe I would like to have one as a pet…but that was just a dream, so don’t get excited!
